Side note about food in case any of you were wondering... cuz I like food... New Orleans: So I had seafood gumbo like 3 or 4 times cuz you know, it should be good in Louisiana, but it wasn't exactly as I had hoped. The ingredients were pretty good... fresh vegetables and seafood like crab and crawfish, but the soup taste was a bit harsh. I think I prefer the seafood gumbo at Red Lobster interestingly enough. They also have turtle soup, which was ok. In China they serve it more like a turtle in a broth. In New Orleans it's minced meat in sherry vinegar, so it's ok if you like sour food. The only problem I see in this is that you don't know if the turtle is fresh or not. The oysters were the same as anywhere else. The steaks were ok. I had a Kobe beef burger at Emeril's (I shoulda known to not get a burger from a guy that doesn't really do burgers) but I've definitely had better. I think one of the better burgers I've had was at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas (sorry I can't think of the restaurant name off the top of my head), but I've still gotta check out the burgers at Bobby Flay's restaurants. Athens: Greek food is not my thing. I like meat and had some skewered chicken, lamb, and pork, but it wasn't done very well. I also got a "beef burger" (I like burgers), and interestingly enough it didn't come with a bun. It was just a burger pattie with some potatoes and stuff. Too bad it was hella salty. They have a lot of octopus and calamari which was good. Their fish dishes were very bland. Steaks there were definitely below par. One cool thing was that with the steak though is that I got a plate with 9 different salts from around the world, such as from Hawaii, Himalayas, Bolivia, New Zealand, etc... Oh yeah, and the prices are outrageously high. ----- So I haven't updated for a while, so here's an update for those who still look at my Xanga. I went to New Orleans for business like 2 months ago... ate a lot of food... took a tour of the Katrina damage... and then came back. I think these are pics of me on Bourbon Street.
At Mardi Gras World, a warehouse where they keep the floats they use at the Mardi Gras parades
I also went to Athens on business like a month ago. A lot of the flight attendants on the plane over there were guys lol... kinda weird... Here is me at some old Olympic stadium made of marble.
Temple of Zeus
A theater at the Acropolis Parthenon
Somewhere on the coast
Temple of Poseidon
Some bird at the Temple of Poseidon. I swear it looks like it has chocolate on an ice cream body... kinda looks like Mud Pie...
I forgot what this place is called, but it's supposed to be where they signed some documents and stuff to become part of the EU. There were also these Greek girls there dressed in the old school Athenian robes (you can kinda see 2 in the background). There was this one girl that was hella hot but I didn't wanna look like a fool and take pics of her... so no pics for you.
The hotel we stayed at had hella old school elevators where you had to manually open the elevator door on a hinge thing. Here is a pic of the elevator door from the outside.
On the inside there was no protection door thing, and so you could see and touch the walls and everything as the elevator went up and down.
At the Athens airport, the toilets had these flush button things that say "Stop"... thought it was interesting... like "stop, don't take a piss, go do it on the airplane" or maybe a button in case it's overflowing?
